Osteopath

Philosopy and types of treatment used

My interest in Osteopathy developed out of an inherent respect for the human body..

It is capable of regulating itself and tolerating the many changes that have developed in our working lives.  Sometimes however it just can't cope, and that is where Osteopaths intervene to aid the body in its recovery.  Our job is to help decrease pain, molilise joints, help reduce inflammation and help return the body to its own particular sense of equilibium.  It is due to this extended interest that I still undertake osteopathic postgraduate courses and am currently studying musculoskeletal acupuncture.

My aim is to tailor treatments that are patient specific, based on physical examination, case history, patient preference and an understanding of the presenting complaint.

My approach always entails

  • soft tissue massage, followed by either
  • manipulation
  • non direct techniques such as myofascial release
  • It is my aim to help aid the recovery process as quickly as possible and discuss the factors in daily life that may be contributing to the complaint.

Most commonly treated conditions

  • headache
  • neck, shoulder and arm pain
  • lower back pain
  • TMJ/jaw complaints
  • sciatica and hip problems
  • period pain
  • digestive complaint
  • pregnancy and infants
